“This is going to be so fun! I am so excited!” Samantha exclaimed. As they approached the haunted house, they were filled with adrenaline. “I heard that there are clowns and zombies that pop out at you!” said Billie. “Someone said that a guy with a mask and a chainsaw follows you out at the very end!” announced Kim. After hearing many comments and remarks like this, Riley was frightened. She had been nervous for this night for quite some time. The idea of a haunted house never sat right with Riley. Why would you want to pay to get scared? Why would you want to go into a dark maze with people and many different creatures jumping out at you? It didn’t make sense. But, Riley’s friends wanted to go, so she decided to join them. They were getting ready to go and Riley’s nerves only got worse. She was feeling uneasy about the whole thing, but she wouldn’t back out because she didn’t want to seem like a scaredy cat in front of all of her closest friends. They got to the haunted house and the line to get in was long, so they would have to wait for their turn. As they waited, they chatted about school and friends and awaited their turn. They got to the front and showed their tickets and they headed to the doors. Everyone was excited but nervous to go in. They heard a chainsaw to their left and giggles and shrieks to their right. As they walked into the house, they were excited. The front of the group jumped back as a zombie like creature jumped out at them. Everyone screamed and laughed and they kept walking through. Riley was at the back of the group, she was creeped out and still sketched out. All of a sudden, Riley was taken from her group and pulled into a dark corner with a strong hand over her mouth. She kicked and screamed but no sound came out. She watched as her friends walked away until she could no longer see them. She was then dragged into a back room and a rope was tied around her hands and a cloth around her mouth. She was then taken and thrown into the back of a car. Riley was scared and she felt her stomach dropped as she realized what was going on. The ride to wherever she was going was bumpy and terrifying. What was going to happen to her? Was she ever going to see her family again? Or her friends? “Wow that was so fun! I want to come back next……. wait? Where did Riley go?” Callie said, looking around. The group of friends Riley was with started to look everywhere for her. They asked around, they went back through the haunted house to check for her there. Nothing, they couldn’t find her anywhere. “Let’s call the police.” suggested one of her friends. The rest agreed and they called the police and told them what happened. It took about 10 minutes for the police to arrive and at this point, the owner of the house was outside, trying to help solve the problem. The police searched around and put out an amber alert. The car had finally come to a stop and the trunk was opened. It was the first time Riley had actually seen the face of the man who took her. He was white, around 6 feet tall and he had these eyes that felt like they were looking into your soul. He grabbed Riley and threw her over his shoulder. He carried her inside of a building, but he blocked her view so she didn’t have a clue where they were. She was placed into a chair and for a few moments, the man just stared at her. He finally said “Hello there, my name is Carl. You are a very pretty girl. Now, I will take off the cloth around your mouth as long as you promise not to scream. No one will hear you out here anyway, I just don’t want to have to deal with you screaming in my ear.” Riley nodded and Carl walked over to her and took the cloth off of her face. “Why did you do this to me? Please, I just want to go home. I don’t want to be here.” Riley said through sobs. “I know you don’t want to be here, but I can’t take you home. When I first saw you as you walked toward the entrance of the haunted house, I knew you were the one. So I slipped inside the house just before you and your friends did and I waited for the right moment to grab you. Your friends and family are probably worried sick, but don’t fret, we are gonna make a call to the police station later tonight.” At this point, Riley’s entire family was at the police station along with special agents and all of her friends. The police were working diligently to find Riley as the phone rang. “Sharmon County Police station, how may I help you?” “I heard you were looking for someone, Riley. I have her and you aren’t going to find her.” “Did you just say you have her?” “Yes, and I will make a deal with you. I will let her go, if you give me what I want.””What do you want from us?”” All I want is to play a game, you follow my rules and I will let Riley go.” “Why should we trust that you are telling the truth about Riley?” “Fine, you don’t believe me. Here….. Help! Please help! He has me and he has blue eyes and brown hair and…. THAT’S ENOUGH! You will only get an hour and you must notify the news channels and let them know what is going on. I want this broadcasted every where.” Then the dial tone as Carl hung up the phone. While the police were talking on the phone, the local technical analyst was busy tracking where the phone call was coming from. They tracked it to a small shack in the middle of Capital Forest. They sent out units to save Riley, but they also put out a live broadcast to show carl that they were “following his rules” and making sure that he wouldn’t hurt Riley. The police arrived at the shack and they stormed in. Riley was in the middle of the floor tied to a chair. Her face lit up as a police officer rushed over to untie her. They found Carl in a back room with pictures of many different teenage girls. They handcuffed him and took him to prison. Riley was sent home with her family and they made sure to lock all of their doors that night.
